Conservation and dissemination of the collections of the Biblioteca Estense Universitaria in Modena

On 7 and 8 May 2026, a workshop was held at the Biblioteca Estense Universitaria in Modena on the stabilisation and dissemination of the volumes held in the Library’s Monumental Rooms, to meet the conservation needs of the Library of the Custody of the Holy Land in Jerusalem.

This event, open to students, was organised as part of the JERUS-IT-ARTS project and represented an initiative of particular scientific and educational significance, aimed at providing consultancy to the Library of the Custody of the Holy Land in Jerusalem.

The programme included practical sessions led by Dr Gaia Petrella, an expert of recognised international standing, and enabled students to build on the knowledge acquired in their Book Conservation courses and apply it directly to real materials, addressing issues such as indirect, minimal-intervention techniques for book heritage.
