Fausto Minervini

Fausto Minervini is an art historian of Italian-French training, holding a PhD in Contemporary Art History from the Sorbonne University and the University of Naples Federico II, as well as being an ancien élève of the École du Louvre. He is a curator and lecturer at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts.
His research, scholarly publications, and participation in national and international conferences range from the persistence of models and iconographies across different periods and contexts of production to the exchanges between the Italian artistic milieu — with particular attention to the Neapolitan context — and international environments between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
As a specialist in the relationships between Italian Orientalist painting and European artistic and photographic models, his involvement in the Jerus-It-Arts project has led him to investigate the dynamics through which images of the Holy Land were received within the Italian pictorial imagination at the end of the nineteenth century — a highly multifaceted phenomenon closely intertwined with the evolution of artistic genres and ways of representing reality in Italy.
