Founded in Rome in 1975 and headquartered in Cremona since 1979, AISCGre is the leading scholarly society dedicated to Gregorian chant. It advances the semiological approach established by Eugène Cardine and pursues research, teaching and performance practice through courses, conferences, publications, concerts and recordings.

The Association counts roughly 550 individual and institutional members across 28 countries, organised into five linguistic sections (Italian, German, French, Japanese and South American). Collaboration among sections is expressed most visibly in the triennial International Congress, while the German section publishes the peer-reviewed journal Beiträge zur Gregorianik. Through this network AISCGre provides an international forum for the study and dissemination of Gregorian chant.
