Sandra Suatoni

Sandra Suatoni is a senior official of the Italian Ministry of Culture, currently Director of the Istituto Centrale per i Beni Sonori e Audiovisivi. She holds a unique dual profile as art historian and musicologist specializing in organology, conservation, and the museology of musical instruments. From 2015 to 2018 she directed the Museo Nazionale degli Strumenti Musicali in Rome, Italy's leading public collection of musical instruments, where she led new museological planning, restoration and diagnostic campaigns, and public programming. She is the author of Gli strumenti musicali: dallo spettacolo al museo spettacolare (2019), a pioneering study now used as an admission reference for the Specialization School in Musical Heritage in Bologna.

Within JERUS-IT-ART, she  serves as scientific consultant and contributing author for the volume's Italian and normative-organological component, authoring the section Material and sound. Protection, preservation and restoration of musical instruments.
