Yasmine Aljarba

Yasmine Aljarba (Gaza,)is a Palestinian visual artist, curator, researcher, and founder of Hurriya Contemporary, an independent curatorial platform based in Milan dedicated to supporting and promoting emerging and established Palestinian artists within an international contemporary art context. Born in Al-Bureij refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, she has lived and worked in Milan since 2023. Her artistic and curatorial practice explores memory, identity, displacement, belonging, and the relationship between body and land, documenting Palestinian experiences both within and beyond Gaza. Within the framework of the JERUS-IT-ARTS project, she contributed as a curator, researcher, and cultural project coordinator. Her role included the development and coordination of exhibitions and public programs dedicated to contemporary Palestinian art and design, including “Butterfly Effect: Art & Design for Gaza”, “The Face of the City”, and “A Day in the Life: Young Palestinian Artists in Gaza Now”. She also coordinated the workshop “Dark City: Everything That the Night Does Not Kill – Design and Daily Life in Palestine”, developed with Master's students around the theme of design in times of war, whose outcomes contributed to the exhibition “Butterfly Effect: Art & Design for Gaza”.
