Heritage of the future
RESULTS AND PROSPECTS OF THE JERUS-IT-ARTS RESEARCH AT THE BRERA ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS
The "Heritage of the Future. Results and Prospects of the JERUS-IT-ARTS Research" conference at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts (Milan, May 20–21, 2026) represents the final stage of the Brera research unit's work within the project "Between Italy and Jerusalem: Retracing Music and Arts Networks, Enhancing Education and Promoting Cultural Heritage Preservation" (JERUS-IT-ARTS, INTAFAM_00044, CUP E33C24000160006), funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan — NextGenerationEU. The project—led by the "Arrigo Pedrollo" Conservatory of Music in Vicenza, which hosted a progress conference at the Teatro Olimpico in January 2026—has brought together a diverse partnership: the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Unimore), the "Giovan Battista Martini" Conservatory of Music in Bologna, the "Claudio Abbado" Civic School of Music in Milan, the National Dance Academy in Rome, the School of the Magnificat in Jerusalem, and the Custody of the Holy Land. The shared goal: to reconstruct and enhance the historic networks of artistic, musical, and dance exchange between Italy and the territory of Jerusalem through research in the Digital Humanities, innovative educational programs, and heritage conservation projects.
The Milan conferences will present the results of the Brera unit: from the VIM (Immaterial Suitcase) digital platform for documenting intangible cultural heritage in emergency situations, to the Iconographic Repertory of Ancient Organs, from the volume Museology and Museography of Musical Instruments to the exhibitions of the Grandi Sogni project, up to the conservation work on musical manuscripts conducted in collaboration with the Library of the Custody of the Holy Land in Jerusalem and the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana in Venice.
